Fired ceramic, reassembled; kraft paper
An oblong ceramic form, reminiscent of an egg, cracked during firing and was reassembled with its scorch marks, discoloration, and fracture lines left visible. The piece rests within a paper mailer, which provides structural support for the fragile object.
This work belongs to a series reflecting on the birth and early childhood of the artist’s daughter. It explores themes of protection, the desire to contain life, and the inherent vulnerability of early existence.
