Michal Koszycki, Margaret Jensen, ...
A week-long performance by Maggie Jensen and Michal Koszycki, Logan Center Gallery.
An opening in the glass gallery wall served as a point of exchange between the public and the artists inside. Passers-by were invited to write any name on a piece of paper and pass it through. Within the sealed space, the artists transcribed each submission directly onto the walls, working continuously over the course of seven days.
The response was striking. Contributors approached the act with genuine intention — some offering their own name, others honoring someone close to them, others deliberately choosing names designed to provoke or complicate the work. Every submission was inscribed without distinction.
When the performance concluded, the gallery was opened for viewing. Its walls had become a dense, accumulating record shaped equally by sincerity, intimacy, and mischief. The resulting text operates as both archive and social portrait — a document of language and history that belongs to no single author, drawn from the immediate community that chose to take part.
